| Ernie Casbeer (kays-bur), 61, of Oglesby is seeking the
Democratic nomination for state representative in Texas House District
59 (Erath, Somervell, Comanche, Mills, Hamilton and Coryell counties). Casbeer teaches government, economics, and world history at McGregor High School, where he has worked since 1969, and where he serves as National Honor Society sponsor, permanent senior sponsor, and coaches the debate team. A native of Central Texas, Casbeer grew up in Goldthwaite where he attended the public schools and graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1965. He attended Tarleton State University, where he received his BA degree in history/government in1969 and his MAT degree in history in 1972. Ernie and wife Catherine (Cat) have three daughters, Kristen, Kelly and Amy; and two grandchildren, Kobe and Kylen. The Casbeers are members of Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor, where Ernie has served as congregation president and treasurer. He serves on the board of directors of Rocket Federal Credit Union in McGregor where he has served as president and secretary/treasurer and currently serves on the Supervisory Committee. Casbeer is a member of the Oglesby Lions Club, currently serving as secretary, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he is a master and served as secretary for 14 years. |
